Job Title: Band 5 Registered Nurse

Salary range: £29,245 - £37,993 (dependent on experience) Incremental reviews take place on an annual basis.
Hours of work: 150 hours over a 4 week period (approximately 37.5 hours per week). A long shift is 12 hours. You also have the opportunity for enhanced payments for additional hours worked, and to join our ‘Flexible Workforce’ (Putney Bank).

Summary Royal Hospital of Neuro-disability
We are seeking Registered Nurses to join all service areas at the RHN. Your key responsibility is to deliver a high standard of professional clinical care to patients and residents of the hospital. Services provided by RHN are divided into;
- Neuro-Behavioural Service
- Brain Injury Service
- Ventilator and Young Adults Services
- Nursing Home / Continued Care
Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) is one of the oldest independent hospitals and medical charities in the UK. We provide person-centred care that focuses on enhancing dignity, independence and quality of life for our patients and residents. Our services span the entire care pathway from post-acute rehabilitation services to end of life care, for people with complex Neuro-disability and their families, underpinned by a strong research and education programme.

We are seeking
Main Objectives of the role
- To deliver a high standard of care to the patient and residents of the hospital.
- To actively contribute to creating a culture where quality is at the centre of everything we do and is delivered on all occasions to the highest level, in accordance with the appropriate CQC regulations and professional standards including the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code.
- To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:
- Protecting and supporting the health of individual patients and residents
- Assessment of care and health and social care needs
- Development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for individual patients and residents
- Within a model of clinical supervision, to gain experience and skills in, Clinical practice, Facilitation and teaching, Management and leadership.
- To maintain effective communication with patients, residents, families/carers and staff.
- To take charge of the ward/department in the absence of senior nursing staff when agreed competencies to do so have been fully attained.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
- Relevant Nursing degree
- NMC Registered
- Post-registration experience with relevant speciality in a clinical / care setting
- Evidence of high level of nursing evidence based practice to support patient care delivery
Desirable experience:
- Experience in rehabilitation of people who present with challenging behaviours, such as verbal and physical aggression, withdrawn behaviour, dis-inhibition and impulsivity.
- Previous experience or related training or qualification in management of challenging behaviours, including but not limited to de-escalation, positive reinforcement and re-direction.
- Previous experience or related training in Positive Behaviour Support and its guiding principles.
- Previous experience or related training in Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) and Breakaway techniques
- Leadership or management qualification
